Now, I have a lot of friends of different ethnic minorities.

Hong Kong Is My Second Home

I was born in Hong Kong but I completed my preprimary, primary and lower secondary schooling in Nepal. Then, two years ago, I came to Hong Kong to live with my family. At first, it was hard for me to adapt to a new environment and to make new friends. Moreover, I found it difficult to adjust to the hot climate in Hong Kong and, after a few years of living here, I still haven’t got used to it. There was also the language barrier and, because of this, rarely did I talk to others. However, the government is now committed to providing different educational and support services for NonChinese speaking children in order to reduce the language barrier. Now I can speak and write Chinese a little bit so most of the time I can overcome the language barrier. Now, I have a lot of friends of different ethnic minorities. Furthermore, I have joined programs like the Rainbow Life Program to know more about Hong Kong society.

Since I have lived in Hong Kong for more than two years, I can say that life here is different from Nepal. Hong Kong has a better standard of living, a better health service, and better education and transport facilities than Nepal. But one similarity is that the people here are helpful, kind and polite just like the people in my home country Nepal. a looked bored in a way.
