Through connections, we get to know more people, and the experiences we have with them stimulate emotions in us that we may not even know existed.

Connections

There are 7 billion people on this planet, which means there are 7 billion stories to be heard! I would like to focus on one of the most important aspects that we as humans cannot survive without, and that is, connections. Instead of telling a story, I would like to highlight some advantages and disadvantages of connections.

Connections offer many advantages to the human race and can be easily made among us. I believe connections are one of the main reasons for our existence. If connections had not existed, how could Adam and Eve have procreated off-springs? Or, how could we learn about evolution theory? We would not know any of those things if there were no connections. Through connections, we get to know more people, and the experiences we have with them stimulate emotions in us that we may not even know existed. In most cases, these connections and the experiences that come with them enrich our lives and help shape and develop our character. We would not experience life without connecting to other people in our environment. How would we be able to fall in love, or fall apart, if we didn’t have connections that are romantic or hurting?

However, disadvantages also accompany connections. One disadvantage is that certain kinds of connections can lead to the corruption of a country's government, which may lead to unwanted disasters such as starvation. In the latter case, the funds allocated for social welfare have been misspent or embezzled. Another disadvantage is that too many connections can be dangerous because not everyone can be trusted. The more connections we have, the greater the risk of getting exposed to unexpected, and possibly unfortunate, events happening in our lives.

In conclusion, I think having connections is important for us because they help us develop into the kind of persons we aspire to be, just as they could turn us into people we might not expect to be. Before making a connection with someone, therefore, we should know whether or not the person is reliable and trustworthy. Our seniors always tell us, "Don't talk to strangers”. And this is one reason to consider when we decide what connections to make.
